Dr. Swasti Tiwari is Professor and Head of the Department of Molecular Medicine & Biotechnology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), a tertiary care hospital in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
At present, her laboratory is also developing novel tools for placental health analysis. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, her laboratory has developed an RNA based technology for COVID-19 testing.
But on Wednesday morning she was diagnosed with Covid and is in isolation.
She is under home quarantine after testing positive to coronavirus infection. Later, other staff members and a female resident doctor a female resident doctor and two sample collectors were also found infected.
The insitute is taking all measures to ensure safety of employees. Meanwhile as Dr. Swasti Tiwari would undergo treatment Dr. Mansi Bhardwaj will be replacing her temporarily effective Monday, 5th April’21 as told by sources.
