A 39 year old Fort Myers women donated 90% of her lottery winnings.

Shelbrena McCoy, won a million dollars on a Florida Lottery scratch off ticket she purchased in Miami, Florida 3 months ago. But instead of taking home a check for a modest $750,000 after taxes, seconds after she received the the check, she stated that she already knew what she really wanted to do with the money. In the back of her mind, Shelbrena knew from the very moment she realized she had won – the money would go to those whom are in need!

Shelbrena followed through on her promise, and within 1 month of receiving the check, she donated 90 percent of her winnings. To spread the wealth, she donated $675,000 between a number of charities and kept ONLY $75,000 of her winnings.

I decided to do a good deed and make a difference in other lives” said Shelbrena in an interview. She claimed that keeping the money would not make her nearly as happy as helping others did. She hopes that her random act of generosity, will inspire others to follow in her footsteps.
